The Salt Town team were contracted to help bring The Birchwood Centre, an anti-homeless shelter in Skelmersdale, to life.
Client & Delivery
In collaboration with BTP Architects and Calico Homes, our contractors performed vital works to develop The Birchwood Centre, an anti-homeless and well-being sanctuary for vulnerable people in the Skelmersdale community.
Solutions & Delivery
Roofing Solutions
In line with the client’s needs, we installed a bespoke roofing system incorporating Danosa single-ply, a highly durable and flexible membrane. The roof transformation also involved installing a tapered flat roof scheme. This smart roofing solution reduces future costs for the client, promotes energy efficiency and has a longer lifespan than other roofing solutions.
The Birchwood Centre’s roof was finished with the installation of aluminium rainwater goods, including gutters and downpipes.
For accessibility, our clients requested a rooftop walkway which we supplied and installed alongside a safety line to act as a protection system.
Cladding Solutions
We supplied and installed bespoke anthracite PPC aluminium feature surrounds and buildup to the curtain wall and windows. In addition, we provided and fitted a Hardie plank shiplap cement weatherboard cladding and build-up in anthracite to create an aesthetically pleasing finish.
Results & Future Value
Upon the project’s completion, the client was safe in the knowledge that the centre adhered to safety regulations and that the guttering installations would protect the foundation of The Birchwood Centre and prevent future erosion.
The flat-roof installation ensures the longevity of the development, whilst the bespoke cladding solution and use of anthracite provided the project’s highly-practical and aesthetically pleasing finish for the client.
